Venezuela: National Constituent Assembly Approves Presidential Elections

Venezuela's National Constituent Assembly (ANC) approved a motion to hold presidential elections by April 30, Reuters reported Jan. 23. Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro will likely seek re-election. The ANC's decision comes amid attempts by the United States and Venezuela's neighbors to find a negotiated solution to the political standoff between the current Venezuelan government and the opposition.
