Venezuela: U.S. Diplomat Presses For Release Of Detained American

A U.S. diplomat at the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela met with Venezuelan Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza to press for the release of American citizen Joshua Holt, who has been detained since June 2016, Yahoo News reported Dec. 28. Holt was arrested on accusations of passing weapons, spying and plotting against Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Holt's continued detention is one of several issues between the United States and Venezuela, with recent U.S. sanctions further exacerbating tensions.
