Two decades ago, Michael Skelly foresaw an energy transition coming in the United States, with a shift from electricity generation primarily using fossil fuels to renewable-based power. He began working on wind energy projects in 2000, a time when the industry was lightly regarded. Just eight years later, a company Skelly helped create became the second-largest wind power firm in the country. In his new book, SuperPower! One Man's Quest to Transform American Energy, Wall Street Journal energy reporter Russell Gold tells the story of Skelly's push to change the electricity generation picture in the United States.
Gold recently sat down with Stratfor Vice President of Global Analysis Reva Goujon for a fascinating discussion about the changes underway in the sector and Gold's take on the future of energy in the United States.
