Demography, derived from the Greek words for "description of people or society," is the statistical study and analysis of populations, including their changing structure (age, gender, education, etc.) and size. Demographic change is notoriously slow and often imperceptible, but its long-term impact is significant, affecting domestic and international political stability, economic growth and financial wealth.
